I used my first of what I’m sure will be many ice packs this morning.
My right quadricep was nagging me before I started my first run interval but the pain subsided as I continued through that interval and into the rest of my walks and runs. I knew I was going to be spending some time in the recliner with an icepack once I finished my cool down stretches. I was right. Like “Mikey” in the old cereal commercials, I liked it!
I did a quick “Google” search on knee muscle pain and came across information I wasn’t expecting to find: runner’s knee. My gosh!
So what it boils down to is this. In order to avoid any injury I’m going to slow down and walk if it hurts too much. If the muscle doesn’t stop hurting after I’ve warmed up, I’ll stop, go home & rest the muscle. One other thing, I’ll start stretching after warming up and stretch more than I have been after I’ve cooled down.
Hydrating more and eating more fruits & veggies wouldn’t hurt, either.
