Not Easily Broken

One of the presents hubby & I received when we graduated from college is very simple and incredibly beautiful: a cord made of three strands of ribbon with a cross attached to the end of each ribbon.

My mother’s aunt made it for us. One blue cord, one pink, one white. The Lord, hubby, and me.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the covenant of marriage lately. Hubby & I have been married for almost 22 years. By the time our anniversary rolls around, I will have been married for exactly half of my life.

Amazing.

I know the statistics of a marriage ending in divorce are still close to 50/50. Christian marriages don’t seem to fair any better with regard to this percentage. This statistic scares me. Taken literally, if my parents, hubby & I, and my two brothers and their wives stood beside each other, half of the four couples gathered would be destined to fail.

How sad!

Hubby & I don’t want to be one of those statistics.
