I’m in the homestretch on the countdown to the AT&T Austin next Sunday. Am I ready?
No.
I managed to get out yesterday afternoon and walk a very slow 1.5 miles. My back hurt with every step. I found myself compensating for the pain in the lower right side of my back by favoring my left leg. It felt like I was doing more of a limp shuffle than actually walking. I don’t see how I’m going to meet my mileage goal this week.
More importantly, I don’t see how I’m going to be able to finish my race next week. There is no doubt that I’ll start the race. It’s the finishing that has me a bit concerned at the moment.
Regardless, I still have a weekly goal to meet. I’ve let too much time lapse between my training days and the lack of muscle tone I see in my legs is discouraging. It kills me that I’ve lost all those months of hard work. The weather’s warmed up for at least the next day or two. I’m going to sieze the opportunity to head out and walk.
For the pure joy of walking.
Back pain or not.
